what is the theme of the brave little toaster

Hindsight, eh? I might not have been as moved by it as Sundance was, but I do respect the movie for being more sophisticated than other animated movies were at the time, and it did create a lasting legacy whose cult classic status led to some genuine animated masterpieces. Also, a staff member who tragically died in a car crash worked on this movie and John Lasseter actually wanted to make it computer-animated but Disney shot down that idea. Not to mention the presence of an anthropomorphic lamp. The premise shares a surprising number of parallels with Toy Story 3, the world-building is similar to that franchise just with appliances and Pixar would even make a short with a similar concept called The Blue Umbrella. I can definitely understand the influence this movie seems to have had on Pixar.

I think this movie has succumbed a bit to 'Seinfeld is Unfunny' in the wake of movies released by Pixar and during the Disney Renaissance but The Brave Little Toaster is still a classic movie with good voice acting, memorable characters, decent animation for a movie that barely has a budget to speak of, fun songs and not being afraid to be quite dark, despite what the title might imply.
